Choose your Kübox. Plan your shipment.

Compare interior and exterior dimensions in inches and centimeters, estimate dimensional weight, and check which sizes fall within a defined parcel size benchmark.

Kübox provides reusable structural packaging for suitable parcel shipments and a lightweight alternative to traditional wood crating for suitable freight applications.

1. Start with the complete shipment.

Interior dimensions

Use these to determine whether the item fits after allowing for cushioning, blocking, bracing and clearance. Include shafts, feet, handles and connectors.

Exterior dimensions

Use assembled outside dimensions to calculate dimensional weight and check carrier size limits. Measure the finished package, including external additions.

Total packed weight

Add the item, Kübox, internal protection, restraints, accessories and any pallet. Carrier actual-weight limits apply to this total.

Fit example: An item measuring 20 × 12 × 8 in. (50.8 × 30.5 × 20.3 cm), with an illustrative 2 in. (5.08 cm) allowance on every side, needs at least 24 × 16 × 12 in. (61.0 × 40.6 × 30.5 cm) of usable interior space. The correct allowance depends on the actual protective design.

2. Understand the parcel size check.

The tables use the following U.S. UPS small-package / FedEx Ground benchmark. This is a reference for comparing sizes, not a universal international parcel rule.

On smaller screens, swipe or scroll horizontally to see all columns →

Reference limits used in the size tables
Measurement Imperial limit Metric equivalent
Longest outside side 108 in. 274.32 cm
Length plus girth 165 in. 419.10 cm
Actual packed weight 150 lb Approximately 68.0 kg

Length plus girth = longest side + twice each of the other two sides.

“Within size” means the listed dimensions fit this benchmark. It does not confirm packed weight, contents, packaging acceptance, destination availability or a particular rate. Additional handling and large-package charges may apply.

International shipments: Check the selected carrier, service, origin and destination. International services may have different size limits, weight limits, measurement rules and dimensional divisors. The metric figures here are conversions of the listed inch dimensions.

3. Compare Kübox sizes.

Dimensions are shown as length × width × height. For the parcel check, the longest exterior side is treated as length, regardless of the order displayed.

DIM columns are separate estimates: pounds use exterior cubic inches ÷139; kilograms use exterior cubic centimeters ÷5,000. Each result is rounded up to the next whole unit. They are not direct conversions of one another.

Metric dimensions are displayed to one decimal place. Calculations use the original inch dimensions and exact conversion factor, before display rounding. Carrier measurement and billing rules may produce different results.

Freight Cube DIM figures are comparisons using the same divisors as the parcel tables, not freight billing weights. Confirm the complete loaded dimensions, including the pallet and securing materials, before obtaining a freight quote. Freight and air-cargo services may use different pricing methods.

Measure before shipping. Published dimensions support selection. Actual assembled measurements, added materials and carrier measurement rules determine the final size assessment. Pay particular attention to configurations at or near the maximum size.

4. Separate actual weight from dimensional weight.

Actual packed weight: item + Kübox + cushioning + restraints + accessories + any pallet.

Dimensional weight: a pricing measure based on the space the finished package occupies.

On smaller screens, swipe or scroll horizontally to see all columns →

Two dimensional-weight estimates
Units Calculation Displayed result
Inches and pounds Exterior L × W × H in inches ÷139 Rounded up to the next whole pound
Centimeters and kilograms Exterior L × W × H in centimeters ÷5,000 Rounded up to the next whole kilogram

A common starting point for parcel pricing is the greater of actual weight and dimensional weight. Carrier rounding, minimum billable weights, surcharges and account terms can also affect the final charge.

A high DIM weight does not automatically require freight. A Trunk with an exterior size of 54 × 24 × 24 in. (137.2 × 61.0 × 61.0 cm) has an estimated DIM weight of 224 lb at divisor 139, while remaining within the stated parcel size benchmark. Actual packed weight and the selected service's other requirements still apply.

The two divisors are approximately equivalent, but separate calculations and rounding can produce different results. Use the divisor and measurement rules in your carrier agreement. Learn about dimensional weight .

5. Select the internal protection.

The container and internal packing form one protective system. Choose cushioning, support and restraint for the item's weight, geometry, fragility and handling environment.

On smaller screens, swipe or scroll horizontally to see all columns →

Match the interior design to the contents
Contents Protection to evaluate
Pump or motor with a shaft Support appropriate housing or mounting surfaces. Protect the shaft with clearance and suitable restraint through changing orientations.
Dense metal component Distribute concentrated loads. Evaluate blocking, bracing and fastening around the intended load paths.
Sensitive electronics or instruments Select cushioning for weight and shock sensitivity. Protect connectors, displays and other vulnerable areas. Include static protection where required.
Artwork or flat panels Protect faces, edges, corners and surfaces. Allow sufficient clearance without placing damaging pressure on the item.
Return core with residual fluid Drain as appropriate, cap openings and provide compatible containment. Check transport restrictions and protect reusable components from contamination.
Repeated shipments Use repeatable packing arrangements and clear instructions. Inspect the container and interior protection before every trip.

Engineered corrugated build-ups, laminated paperboard, honeycomb, foam and other suitable materials can form part of an interior design. Material selection and any fastening arrangement require evaluation for the specific load.

For parcel shipping, prepare for the package to travel on different faces. A “This Side Up” label does not replace protection for changing orientation.

Common questions

Does “Within size” mean my shipment is approved for parcel?

It means the listed dimensions fit the U.S. size benchmark identified in this guide. You must also check actual packed weight, contents, packaging, service, destination and current carrier requirements.

Are these size limits valid internationally?

Not universally. International limits depend on the carrier, service, origin and destination. Use the dual-unit dimensions to compare the container with the rules for your selected service.

Why can DIM weight exceed the parcel actual-weight limit?

DIM weight is a pricing measure based on volume. Actual weight is the measured mass of the complete package. A large, lightweight package can have a high DIM weight while remaining within the selected service's actual-weight and size limits.

Are the metric DIM figures conversions of the pound figures?

No. The pound column uses cubic inches divided by 139. The kilogram column uses cubic centimeters divided by 5,000. Each is calculated separately and rounded up to a whole unit. Carrier-specific measurement rules can change billable results.

Do the tables show container payload capacity?

No. DIM weight is not a payload rating. Confirm allowable loads for the specific Kübox and packing configuration. Compression, stacking, vibration and drop results describe different conditions and should not be treated as interchangeable payload ratings.

Can Kübox handle irregular parts or parts with shafts?

Irregular geometry does not automatically exclude Kübox. Account for vulnerable projections, center of gravity, support surfaces, clearance and suitable restraint when selecting the container and internal packing.

Can the same Kübox be used for a return shipment?

Kübox is designed for reuse. Inspect panels, structural profiles, hubs, pins, fasteners and interior protection before each use. Replace damaged components and provide instructions that let the recipient recreate the intended packing arrangement.

What should I send Kübox for a recommendation?

Send dimensions, item weight, photographs, mounting points, fragile areas and projections. Include origin, destination, transit-time needs, shipment frequency and any return requirement. Provide known shock, vibration or environmental limits where available.

Find the right configuration.

Choose a standard size when it fits the protected item. For custom dimensions, concentrated loads or critical equipment, share your application so the container and interior requirements can be evaluated together.
