Kübox Freight Cube – Collapsible Engineered Pallet Shipping Crate
Kübox Freight Cube is a reusable, collapsible engineered shipping crate built around a standard 48 x 40 in. pallet base for heavier, bulkier, irregular and freight-like loads that need more structural protection than conventional corrugated packaging without necessarily requiring traditional wood crating. Its engineered corrugated wall system assembles over the integrated pallet without conventional crate-building tools, creating a standardized pallet-format shipping unit.
Freight Cube is designed for applications where load standardization, structural protection, cube efficiency, reusability and collapsibility can improve transportation and return-logistics efficiency. Depending on the finished shipment dimensions, weight, carrier and service, Freight Cube may be used in appropriate parcel, freight or hybrid logistics workflows.
Suitable applications can include industrial equipment, machinery components, commercial goods, small furniture, bulk inventory and other heavier or irregular loads that benefit from a pallet-format engineered crate after appropriate cushioning, restraint and load securing.
When empty, the Freight Cube collapses for storage and return logistics, reducing the space required compared with a fully assembled rigid crate. Its reusable design can also reduce reliance on conventional single-use packaging or unnecessarily heavy wood crating in appropriate applications.
Important: Easy access to a garage, ground-level entrance or loading dock is required when shipping or receiving a loaded Freight Cube.
The pallet base is 48 x 40 in. The collapsed outside dimensions are 48 x 40 x 12 in., and the included pallet weighs approximately 12 lb. Where Kübox product dimensions are identified as interior or usable dimensions, use those dimensions to determine load fit. Do not use interior dimensions as exterior carrier dimensions. Select the appropriate configuration based on the protected load after allowing for suitable cushioning, restraint and load securing. Kübox does not eliminate the need for appropriate internal packaging.
Find the right size: Select a Kübox large enough to fit the wrapped items with at least 2-3 inches of cushioning material on all sides (bottom, top, and all four sides).
What's included
- Kübox Freight Cube
- 8 plastic corner hubs
- 16+ locking pins
- Pin removal tool
- Plastic pallet
- 2 lashing straps
- Plastic cover
Assemble
Kübox is shipped collapsed, like a 7-inch-high sandwich. Assembling is easy and requires no additional tools. Watch how-to videos here.
Place your Kübox on a flat surface.
- Remove the black plastic corner hubs, and take the top lid off.
- Remove the 4 small cardboard spacers from each corner (pack them inside your container, you'll need them later).
- Take the panels and end-walls out of the container.
- Insert the end-walls into the base.
- Fit the panels into the base and the end-walls.
After packing and securing your items inside the Kübox:
- Place the lid on top of the 4 cardboard walls.
- Place the four plastic hubs on each corner of the top lid.
- Insert two plastic pins per corner hub until it clicks. Make sure to place the pins on the top lid and the base of the container to secure the 8 corner hubs.
Pack
Packing fragile items correctly is crucial to ensure they arrive at their destination safely.
Watch out for:
- Items in direct contact with the Kübox walls.
- Fragile items in contact with other items.
- Empty spaces and loose contents.
- Overpacking.
Cushioning:
Items must not touch the crate walls directly.
Use bubble wrap, foam, or other cushioning so items “float” in the center of the crate.
- No empty spaces. Fill voids with cushioning (bubble wrap, foam, or air pillows).
- Clothing, bedding, or soft goods may be used only as secondary filler — never as a substitute for proper wrapping.
Wrapping:
Each item should be wrapped individually to prevent item-to-item damage.
- Wrap each item with at least 2 inches of bubble wrap or foam on all sides.
- Fragile items (glass, ceramics, electronics) should be double-wrapped for added protection.
- Never use paper wrapping as a cushion — it offers no impact protection.
Weight Balance
- Do not exceed the weight limit for each Kübox.
- Distribute weight evenly to avoid pressure points.
- Lid must lock securely and flat, without bulging.
Final Check
- Shake the crate gently — nothing should rattle.
- Confirm all items are cushioned on every side.
Water-proofing:
- Place the plastic cover on the Kübox to protect your items from getting wet.
